Just in time to top ice cream, fraps, and other cold summer treats, Reddi-Wip’s new dairy-free whipped cream is finally hitting shelves in U.S. grocery stores!

To meet consumer demand for non-dairy options and transparent ingredients, the classic whipped cream brand now offers coconut- and almond-based options that are also free of gluten, artificial flavors, and artificial preservatives. They even come in the brand’s iconic aerosol can!

Reddi-Wip announced the release of non-dairy whipped cream back in November 2017 and cited customer requests as a driving factor in formulating the plant-based options.

“We’ve seen tremendous growth in non-dairy, plant-based foods due to consumers’ dietary restrictions and changing taste preferences,” Ryan Clark, president of Reddi-Wip’s parent company Conagra Brands, told PR Newswire. “This is an exciting innovation for Reddi-Wip that addresses this broader consumer demand and the requests we’ve received from consumers asking us to bring a non-dairy variety to market.”

According to The Daily Meal, Reddi-Wip started shipping the non-dairy whipped cream to Publix, Hy-Vee, and Wakefern retailers in May, but vegans across the nation can expect to see the new products in their own neck of the woods in the coming months.

While the new non-dairy option is Reddi-Wip’s first foray into vegan dessert toppings, it’s not the first vegan whipped cream to hit the plant-based food market. So Delicious, Trader Joe’s, and the Whole Foods 365 brand all offer a coconut-based whipped cream. Gone are the days of whipping together chilled full-fat coconut milk and sugar to make homemade vegan whipped cream. But for the amateur chefs who want to give it a go, here’s an easy peasy vegan coconut whipped cream recipe to try.

From topping off ice cream to straight up eating it out of the can, there are plenty of ways to enjoy Reddi-Wip’s new line of non-dairy whipped creams! Here is some inspiration to get you started:

  • Ice Cream: Whipped cream is a classic topping for ice cream, especially fudge sundaes! Host a cruelty-free ice cream social or throw an ice cream party for one with vegan-friendly toppings, like dark chocolate chips, peanut butter, crushed Oreos, fruit, and non-dairy Reddi-Wip.
  • Beverages: The next time you hit Starbucks or your favorite local coffee shop, stash non-dairy Reddi-Wip in your bag so you can once again experience the sweet joy of a cold, whipped cream-topped blended coffee. Whipped cream also makes a great topper for lattes, mochas, and hot cocoa during colder months.
  • Desserts: From mousses and puddings to pies and parfaits to fruit salad and shortcakes, whipped cream can enhance almost any dessert. Be sure to break out a can of vegan Reddi-Wip come holiday season when pumpkin, pecan, and sweet potato pies are abundant!
