All the sustainable cozies you need to stay warm this winter
Cozy accessories are the epitome of comfort. Something about chunky beanies, teacup cozies, and weighted blankets makes us want to cocoon by the fire All. Day. Long. You too? Luckily, so many companies with missions rooted in sustainability are making staying cozy and eco-conscious easier than ever. Here’s our roundup of sustainable cozies, from beanies to blankets, and mittens to mug cozies. Stay warm, friends!
Bundle up! Sustainable cozies you need to stay warm this winter
Beanies
You probably already know that ears are particularly sensitive to cold weather. But do you know why? Because our ears don’t have protective fat tissue– the nerves can react intensely to changing temperatures. A good solution to this potential issue: beanies! They’ll keep your ears warm — and they add cozy cuteness to every look. Win, win.
We love the Ollie Beanie at Krochet Kids, which is made with 100% Polyana Yarn — a material that requires less water, waste, and CO2 compared to acrylic. Krochet Kids is also an incredible organization on a mission to provide opportunities to people in Uganda and Peru. Read more about their mission, here.
Boody’s products are made with thoughtful, sustainable materials — and the Soft Jersey Beanie is no exception (made with 95% rayon made from bamboo). And if you’re in the market for a new scarf, take a look at the Fringed Hem Scarf.
Made with 100% recycled polyester, this beanie is functional and stylish. And you can feel good knowing your purchase is for a bigger purpose, as United By Blue removes one pound of trash from oceans and waterways for every product purchased.
Mug Cozies
How cute are these? We fell in love with these mug and teacup cozies from Eternally Hooked via Etsy at first sight. They’re handmade with organic yarn and come with cute little messages like “SHHHHH Coffee” and “Coffee Queen.” The perfect added touch.
While these aren’t the typical mug cozies like the one above, these spice-filled, heat-activated coasters from Uncommon Goods add warmth to your cup in a different way. You simply heat your coaster in a microwave for 30 seconds, set your drink on it, and then your drink will stay warm extra long.
Mittens
Chunky and comfy mittens make everything better! Whether you’re taking cold weather strolls or commuting, we hope these help keep your hands toasty!
Keep your hands as warm as possible in the these vegan Lila Mittens from the Etsy maker Moloney Makes. All you need is a warm cup of tea and your hygge lifestyle is complete!
These Swiss Alpine Hemp Mittens hit all the marks — they’re vegan, made with 100% organic hemp, and hypoallergenic. We love that they come in different colors, so you can mix and match depending on your mood and outfit.
Warm Socks
We know fuzzy socks are beloved cozies, but we’re partial to socks made with organic cotton and recycled materials. And socks are must-have winter essentials because when your feet are warm, it helps redistribute heat to the rest of your body.
All the socks at Pact are made with organic cotton in a fair trade factory. They’re also pre-washed and shrink resistant, so you don’t have to worry about them coming out three times too small after a wash (been there).
Socks made from recycled water bottles? Count us in. These Please Recycle Socks from Girlfriend Collective are made from 93% RPET (recycled plastic water bottles) and feature compression mesh and rib stitch to promote circulation and reduce swelling.
Kind Socks are ethically manufactured, made with organic cotton, and a portion of the profits are donated to charities. It’s also a Black-owned business grounded in a love of ethical fashion.
Comfy Hoodies
As temperatures drop, we reach for hoodies because they not only keep our arms and torso cozy — but they also protect our necks and ears. Here are two of our favorite hoodies from our organic collection.
We may be biased, but our Spread Love Hoodie is so comfy + made with 100% certified organic cotton. Wear it with our joggers or your favorite pair of jeans, and your cozy at home uniform is set!
When it comes to organic hoodies, we can’t choose just one! Our Protect Our Nocturnal Pollinators Hoodie is also made with 100% certified organic cotton and raises awareness for nocturnal pollinators like bats — creatures responsible for pollinating the flowers of more than 500 plant species!
Home Slippers
Once you get used to wearing slippers, it’s hard to go back! For us, they somehow make waking up earlier a little easier, knowing our feet have little pillows awaiting them. Need a new pair? Here are our picks for the best sustainable slippers.
These super soft slippers from Parachute are made with 100% cotton and feel like the coziest kind of bathrobe for your feet. And don’t worry about the white color – you can toss them in the washer (on cold) when they inevitably get dirty.

Etsy
Vegan, made with organic cotton, and handmade — we can’t get enough of these crochet slippers from Love Takes Care on Etsy.
Super Soft Blankets
Of all the weighted blankets, we find this upcycled blanket from Bearaby to be completely irresistible. Unlike typical velvet, Bearaby’s “Eco-velvet” is made from recycled marine plastic. But you would never know because it’s SO soft. Plus, according to their website, weighted blankets have been medically proven to aid naturally deeper sleep cycles. Big perk!
This 100% Eucalyptus Lyocell Throw Blanket from Sheets and Giggles is just under $40, super soft, and breathable yet sturdy. Sheets & Giggles is also an awesome organization that donates to WWF, 1% For the Planet, and other meaningful charities.
