Gifts for Plant Parents Under $30 | Wholesome Culture
Free shipping to US, CAN & MEX on orders $100+

Since it’s very likely we all have a plant lover or two (or three or four) in our lives, we put together this sweet & simple roundup of plant presents that we’re either buying for a friend — or for ourselves! From adorable tiny planters to floral reusable totes — here’s a list of gifts for plant parents that will inspire their love of greenery and nourish their plant-loving hearts.

30 gifts (under $30!) for all the plant parents in your life

1. Tiny Planters

These tiny handmade planters from Julie Richard Ceramist are irresistibly charming. The designs range from colorful lemons to vintage radios, and depending on which you choose, the price is generally under $30. But we will warn you, once you get one for one friend, you’ll fall in love with it so much — you’ll want to keep it for yourself! (They’re THAT cute!)

2. Plant Pins

Hemleva’s Etsy shop is a plant-lover’s dream. While we’re partial to the pins, she also has adorable keychains and stickers, all in the $4-$20 range. PS, if you’re looking for a burst of plant joy in your feed, her Instagram @Hemleva  is also a must-follow!

Thank you to everyone that read my post yesterday, that are helping to redirect the discourse surrounding #ChallengeAccepted and sharing information on the Femicide that has been happening in Turkey. I want to share more about what I’ve learned. The Istanbul Convention is currently happening and it is a “convention on preventing combating violence against women and domestic violence”. Use the tag #istanbulconventionsaveslives I will be sharing a story slide from @auturkishculturalclub that succinctly explains what is happening in Turkey. My first question after I learned about this was “what can I do to help?” Sharing may seem small but it is powerful. A recent case involving a woman named Pinar Gultekin has seen headway because of the extensive social media attention that it has received. So it doesn’t matter how many followers you have. Talking about what’s going on, using the hashtags and keeping your friends and family informed is so powerful. There are also a few women’s shelters in Istanbul that are suggested (@morcati_vakfi @small.projects.istanbul @tapvakfi @ucansupurgee) that you can donate to, but Turkey does not use PayPal. Morcati is highly recommended, and Small Projects can take a US CC without you having to open a foreign bank account. I will be sure to update this post and add to my stories as I learn more. I want to take the time to say that this is not exclusive to Turkey. It is happening everywhere, including here in the US, and quarantine and the Pandemic have only escalated the situation for many victims who have no where else to go, and have a slew of other concerns when it comes to going to shelters during a pandemic. I truly believe that if we can help raise awareness in one space, we can open up the dialogue and therefore the legislation needed to protect those who need it. So thank you to everyone that shared my post in your stories & encouraged people to read, that quoted my post & thank you to everyone that decided to update their captions. As my all time favorite quote from Helen Keller goes, “Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much.” #WomenEmpoweringWomen #BlackAndWhiteChallenge #Hemleva

3. Plant Decorations

Ever wanted to see a pangolin –or sloth or owl– hanging on your ZZ plant? We do now! Truly, these little plant decorations from Another Studio are everything we never knew we needed. At $8ish, you’ll get a dose of extra cheer every time you see your happy plant with its new little buddy!

View this post on Instagram

Pangolins! Love these creatures, they walk how I imagine a mini dinosaur would (if you haven't seen them move, go Google them and you'll see what I mean 😊). They look prehistoric, carefully balanced on their back legs and they effortlessly climb trees to catch more insects. Apparently an adult Pangolin can eat 70 million inspects each year. 70 million!!! Unfortunately these adorable animals are one of the most trafficked (if not the most) animal in the world and it's also been suggested they might be the cause of covid-19. I mean, give them a break! Poor things, if only all humans could leave them be and let them live a quiet life. . . #pangolin #savethepangolin #plantanimals #anotherstudio #plantlady #plantgang #houseplantlove #ihavethisthingwithplants

For a practical gift, these floral Sustainable Face Masks from Christy Dawn come in a 5-pack for $25. They’re non-medical grade masks that can be reused and washed for multiple uses. The collection from Brown Plant Girls features everything from mini succulents to larger indoor plants that are mostly under $30. We also love getting inspiration from the two founders’ Instagram accounts: @BrownPlantGirl and @MiamiHousePlants

10.  Ferns Print

Jen Hewett’s shop is full of beautiful prints — it was hard to choose which one to feature! But for the purposes of this blog, we’re partial to the Ferns: A Love Story Print (as seen below). It’s finally here! Today Houseplants For All is officially out in the world and I’m still in a slight state of disbelief. I’m so thankful for the opportunity to create this book and there are so many people who helped make it happen! There are more than I can fit in this caption, but here’s my best attempt. Thank you to @girlfridayproductions for seeking me out for this project and @hmhbooks for trusting me with it. To my team at Folia- @arianatanabe, @jacfue, @lndsylntz, @mayasonico, @mindypainterlove, and @skyelofish for assisting on shoots, hand modeling, keeping the shop running, and just being awesome in general. To @foliabill for never ending patience and support and for putting up with all the chaos that these shoots brought to our home. To all of the plant people who allowed me to include their homes in this book (even sending their own photos when the budget didn’t allow for long-distance travel): @plot.twist.interiors, @popannemarie79, @dabito, @habitpattern.sf, @mrcigar, @dinexdesign, @thevictorianatlanta, @workhardplanthard, @earthwindandcactus, @mila_jestcafe, @whitneyleighmorris, @christyneal, @ohhihome, @studioplants, @6thanddetroit, @arianatanabe, @theplantcorner, and @best.fronds.forever. I’m honored to have your lovely homes in this book! To @hiltoncarter, @nsetropicals, and @jenssuccs for contributing your soil ‘recipes’. To @heartswellco- your illustrations are the perfect beautiful finishing touch/ thank you for sharing your talents! To my mom @alynlouise, my original plant lady, without whom I wouldn’t be the plant lover I am today! Last, but not least- thank you to all of you who have supported me and Folia, ordered the book, sent encouraging words, prayed for me, and helped spread the word- I appreciate you all so much! If you haven’t ordered and want to, all books ordered through Folia are shipping signed by me. If you pre-ordered and want yours signed, there are signed bookplates available in the Folia store for just the cost of a stamp- since we don’t know how soon we’ll be able to have a signing event. If you’re interested in carrying it, or have other questions, feel free to DM me! (Links in bio).

What a week it’s been… And it’s only Tuesday! In times of grief and sadness, let’s do our best to practice self-care and be there for each other, because tomorrow isn’t promised. Let your loved ones know how much you love and appreciate them. Root for each other. ❤️🌱 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ To everyone who stopped by the bake sale fundraiser for the Philippines this weekend, thank you so much! There are so many things needed by the people affected by the eruption: food, shelter, clothing, medication, masks to help them breathe through the ash, etc. The money we raised will surely go a long way. Again, thank you, and we hope you enjoyed the Filipino pastries we prepared for you! ❤️🇵🇭

18. Poetic Prints

“And somehow after everything, she still bloomed in the way she was meant to.” These words – and many others from Morgan Harper Nichols — make for beautiful artwork that will become a cherished part of anyone’s home. You can shop her prints, along with stickers books, and tapestries at Garden 24 and while you’re at it also check out MorganHarperNichols.com.

19. Growing Candles

Every once in a while, we stumble upon such a cute gift, we want to shout from the rooftops how much we love it. Hyggelight Growing Candles are one of those gifts. First off, the candles are vegan, cruelty-free and yummy smelling. But the best part is: once the wax is gone — the really fun part just begins! Here’s why: the candle’s label has seeds embedded in them, so you can grow flowers out of the candle/container. Some of the candles are in the $40-ish range, but the Edith, Astrid, and Willow Candle are $30. (So it’s not exactly under $30, but we couldn’t help but include it on this list!)
