We’ve got the best homemade pizza ever!

Straight from the Wholesome Culture Cookbook, this pizza recipe is easy and will convince all pizza lovers out there:

Pita Pizza

Prep time: 10 mins

Cook time: 5 mins

Makes 4 “pizzas”

  • 1 small red onion, sliced
  • 2 cups mushrooms, sliced
  • 1 1/2 cups spinach
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 4 whole wheat pitas
  • 10 ounce container of hummus
  • 2 tomatoes, thinly sliced
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon nutritional yeast
  • Fresh basil (optional)

Directions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 400 degrees.
  2. Begin by heating a pan over medium heat and adding a drizzle of oil. Once hot, add in the red onions and cook 1-2 mins until they begin to soften. Add in the mushrooms and cook for an additional 3-5 mins until the mushrooms grow soft and darker in colour. Stir in the spinach until wilted and remove from heat.
  3. On a baking sheet, place your pitas in an single layer. Spread each one generously with hummus, then layer the tomatoes and mushroom mixture. Sprinkle with dried oregano and nutritional yeast. Place in the oven and cook for 5 mins. Serve.
