Earth Day happens once a year on April 22.
But why limit being environmentally-conscious to one day when you can incorporate greener activities into your everyday life?
Here, we reveal easy ways you can make Earth Day every day!
At home
- Turn off electricity whenever you leave your house (or any room, for that matter) — this includes any electronics that are plugged in but don’t need to be.
- You can also turn off the faucet while brushing your teeth and soaping, take shorter showers, or shower less (within reason, of course).
At work
- Encourage your co-workers to use environmentally friendly office products, including recycled paper towels and tissues.
- Also, be sure to recycle and dispose of your trash correctly throughout the workweek.
Small changes like these can go a long way!
On-the-go
- Take care of the environment (and your health!) by cycling or walking whenever you can. If driving is unavoidable, consider carpooling or taking public transportation.
- For longer distance trips, trains and buses are better for the environment than flying!
At the store
- Skip the single-use plastics and instead bring reusable shopping bags to the store. Our cotton totes offer you a stylish way to carry your groceries home.
- Purchase products that are fresh as opposed to those that are sealed in plastic
- Buy what you need, and try to shop local for all your purchases!
When you dine
- Refuse the straw and dine at restaurants that don’t use single-use plastics. Or request to have your drink served without one.
If you’d prefer to drink with a straw, carry a reusable one with you – our ‘Be the Change’ bamboo straw is a good option.
- Do some research ahead of time and find restaurants that source local ingredients.
- If you really want to make a positive environmental impact, try eating less meat. It takes 1,847 gallons of water to produce a single pound of beef!
- It is also helpful to bring a takeaway container with you whenever eating out — portion sizes have increased by 138% since 1970, which has resulted in more food waste.
- Plan your weekly meals in advance. If you cook exactly what you need, you’ll be less likely to throw out food.
When you dress
- Shop at thrift stores. Some of our best fashion finds have come from secondhand stores.
- Buy your clothes from brands that share your values – like us! We’re committed to protecting the planet and we do that by donating 10 percent of our profits to animal rescue and environmental organizations, making our clothes to order so that nothing goes to waste, shipping all orders in recycled and biodegradable packaging, and using water-based ink.
Did you know?
Some high-end clothing companies partake in stock destruction, where they actually burn their leftover products instead of selling them for discounted prices.
Always research brands before you buy from them!
- Shop your closet! Spring’s the perfect time to go through what you already own. You might be surprised to find clothing you love but haven’t seen in awhile! If you find items you no longer wear, donate them to a charity or thrift store.
Start a new habit (or break an old one)
-
- Consider incorporating Earth-friendly activities into your daily routine – like picking up a few pieces of trash every time you walk somewhere.
- Pick up a new green hobby – like gardening! It’s a great way to really connect with the planet, and it also helps save the world’s declining bee population!

21. Break your Earth-unfriendly habits!
- Smoking is a big one — cigarettes were one of the single largest waste products in 2018.
- Using plastic is another – for a number of super scary reasons!
